Glenmore lies within a Special Area for Conservation and the main aim on our farm is to develop as rich a variety of natural habitats as possible. We have planted thousands of native trees and use our Highland Cattle and sheep to graze the hills fto maximise the variety of flower and insect species. Glenmore House is ideally located for wildlife watching offering excellent views of the nearby heronry. Barn Owls nest to the rear of the house and Pine Martens visit the feeding station in the garden on a regular basis.
The house is situated within a large, secluded garden and orchard with fine sea views. The birdlife at Glenmore House is rich and diverse attracting Siskins, Bullfinches and Collar Doves in the Spring and a host of migrants including Fieldlfares and Redwings in the Autumn. Our tree root feeding staion is regularly topped up with seeds, nuts and fruit and the sunlounge is one of the most comfortable observation hides ever! Birdlife during the day and Pine Martens, Badgers and Hedgehogs at night.
The bright and spacious country kitchen is fully equipped and can easily seat 8. There is also a separate more formal dining room for a sense of occasion.
The lounge and adjoining sun-room have under-floor heating and deep comfy sofas which are perfect for relaxing on. Patio doors open onto the garden with its stone built barbecue, picnic table and expansive views of Glenmore Bay.
There are two master bedrooms and two twin rooms. The double rooms have lovely sea views, super-king size beds and en-suite rain showers. Egyptian cotton sheets and the brass bedheads remind guests of the house's Victorian past. One of the twin rooms has zip and link beds enabling it to be converted to a king size.
The main family bathroom has a spa bath large enough for two.
Depending on the season you can sit amongst clouds of fruit blossom or delight in harvesting the apples, plums and pears. Our ponies, Peigi and Fingal, are always happy to receive any fallen fruit.
