Aspen Lodge

Aspen Lodge

Aspen Lodge faces south over Loch Sunart to the hills of Morvern. The private and secluded location offers guests luxurious and highly individual accommodation with stunning views to Loch Sunart and the ever changing light on land and sea. During the winter months the house captures every moment of sunlight from dawn to dusk.

Aspen Lodge has been hand crafted using local timber and stone. The massive tree trunks which frame the cathedral windows have only travelled 4 miles from woodland to house and the stone was gathered from the house site itself. Both wood and stone give Aspen Lodge a real sense of place. We believe strongly in making Aspen Lodge as “green” as possible and have used the natural sources of solar energy and inherent underground heat as well as massive double glazed windows to heat the house. There is underfloor heating throughout the entire ground floor as well as the upstairs bathrooms creating a cosy and comfortable feel with no unsightly radiators.

The house sleeps 6 in three bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The master bedroom has a super-king bed with sliding French windows to the garden and sea beyond. The generous bathroom has a wet room with rain shower and a double spa bath with views of the loch. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a superking bed and en-suite shower room and the third bedroom is a twin bedded room with the flexibility of zip-lock beds to create a king size bed if preferred. The en-suite bathroom is this case has a bath. All upstairs rooms have lovely views of the loch.

Egyptian cotton sheets are supplied for all the beds with the tasteful use of quality curtains and stylish cushions making them the ideal sanctuary in which to relax. The two upstairs bedrooms are floored in solid Douglas Fir, locally sourced and milled. These are accessed by a light and airy gallery with north facing French windows to a small balcony. This delightful space makes the ideal quiet corner for reading or the perfect place to relax with family and friends.

The living space is striking in the use of full length cathedral windows framed by massive Norway Spruce tree trunks. The tree trunks also emerge from the tiled floor so that guests wander amongst them. They even emerge from and recede into the walls. The massive hand carved stair case is a key feature of the sitting room as is the natural stone fire place. Quality furnishings, rugs, curtains and cushions create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere that will enable you to relax and enjoy your every moment at Aspen Lodge. There is a large flat screen TV with Sky and DVD for those moments when the view is not enough.

To the left of the sitting room is the open plan dining area and kitchen. The kitchen island enables guests to cook on the electric ceramic hob while enjoying different aspects of the house and views. The generous kitchen has soft-close solid oak cupboard doors with the cooker and microwave oven at eye level. There is a full height fridge-freezer. Off the kitchen is the utility room with a separate washing machine and tumble dryer.

The main entrance to the house has lots of space for coats and boots and a separate downstairs toilet and washbasin. There is ample private parking.
